Every 338 RUM I've built runs a 300 gr in the 2800-2850 range and the 250 at 3100 fps with H1000 or Retumbo. I haven't ever had anyone want an edge rebarreled back to an edge, everyone has been rebarreled to a RUM or a Lapua. The 338 lapua compared to the 338 edge are pretty close velocity wise. In your situation I'd just go 338 edge and get a new barrel. The 338 edge +p is a defensive edge only option. If I was starting new I'd go 338 lapua, the brass is available and better.
