As far as how to download it... in the launcher, AFTER you login, but BEFORE you click the "Play" button, go to a little button in the lower left corner. Click on that and it will let you switch to the PTS. Then it will proceed like a normal "update", downloading the PTS update if there is one.If you're feeling adventurous, you can run pingplotter to find where the packets are being dropped between you and the server. This information can be forward to your ISP and/or SWTOR team (to forward to their ISP) so they can yell at whoever owns the failing infrastructure.

The "better" population is going to be the Satele Shan server. In 6.0, Starforge had the most players (not by much), but that all changed during the covid pandemic. All of the better and more seasoned players are all on Satele Shan. And the more helpful community is on Satele Shan. Toxicity is heavy on Starforge.
