To get a good crimp, you need a compact powder, and Tightwad works well. It makes a nice soft 1150 fps shotshell. My only gripe is that it is very prone to static electricity. Well, I'm not going to agree with this. The Hornady bushing chart shows a #408 drops 17 gr. of Titewad while a #453 drops 17 gr. of Red Dot. Titewad is significantly denser than red Dot, despite what you find. And I don't know what you mean by "Only small doses of that powder are reccomended." I use what the published data recommends.Apparently, Titegroup is not recommended for use in 7/8 oz of shot. 1 oz. is the lowest it appears to go. One thought would be to extrapolate from the data for 1 oz loads what might be an appropriate charge weight for a 7/8 oz. load and send them in for testing. For AA hulls use winchester wads w/16 ga nitro cards under the slug. Trap commander wads fit well in a Federal hull with 1 - 20ga card (all 1/8") then a 16 ga card but they were not the most accurate from smoothbore but ok from rifled gun.
