For example, the St. Trina sleep sword reaches its cap for DEX scaling at 56 DEX. The latter is the hard cap for DEX and other attributes in general (STR, INT, etc). IMO pure dex is substantially weaker than casting, hybrid casting, arc, or strength builds in Elden Ring. It's still completely, 100% viable and there are plenty of ways to break the game on a dex build.

Dex allows for great melee options! Personally I would NEVER go pure magic since I find pure magic boring. I think going dex/int provides more options and allows for a more (in my opinion) fun playstyle. Cast speed, and increased weapon options. For a pure sorcerer id just use a magic longsword.
