I don't agree with a lot of complaints on this sub, but exotics should always drop with a workable stat roll. Whether that be just high in 2 stats or even distribution, it should never be sub 60 totals. The Lost Sector was designated to drop Helmets. We just got lucky like you. You can run them in a fireteam but exotics only drop on solo clears. You can get exotics, but they will not be that days slot specific nor does it have bad luck protection. To get slot specific and get guaranteed new items you have to run solo.

Defeat everything in the Lost Sector, especially the Champions. Chamber of Starlight can be glitchy whereby the Champs don't spawn properly until you reach the far side of the room near the chest. If you don't see Platinum Rewards in the feed, then not all Champions were defeated and you won't get an Exotic.

Master isn't much better than legend when it comes to drop rate. Unless your clear time for the lost sector is roughly the same on both difficulties, I'd say it's probably better to just run legend. It's around a 25% chance on legend with platinum iirc, and 33% on master.. though I might be wrong. You just got really unlucky.
