THE GLACIER . The Briksdal Glacier is a western arm of the Jostedal Glacier, the biggest glacier on mainland Europe – protected as a national park. The glacier was formed approx. 2,500 years ago. It covers an area of approx. 10.4 km². Most of it (88%) is on the glacier plateau, 1,500 metres above sea level.
