It was made strong to withstand heavy law enforcement or outdoor/sporting duty, and the gun is composed of subassemblies that made for easy manufacturing — which contributed to its low price of $89 when it came out. The .38 Special Security Sixes are rare, but there are not as many Ruger DA collectors so I don't think they will ever bring a huge premium. But, if you find a collector who needs one you might get $6-700 for it. Most buyers of the Security Sixes are shooters, and go for the .357 models.

All other things being equal the 6" will have better potential accuracy due to the longer sight radius. But the difference is small and accuracy is going to be more dependent on the shooters abilities.
